Lyon offers a high quality of fresh produce (meat, vegetables, cheese and fruit) thanks to an excellent geographical location. The region also has very good wines (Rhône Valley and Beaujolais) and within a 2-hour drive is Burgundy wines around Beaunes.
Lyon organizes the Festival of Lights. This 4-day event takes place in December and brings together more and more people each year. Families, couples and friends gather and walk around the city admiring the lights, drawings, ideas, music and shows that are exhibited around the main monuments of Lyon.
Lyon has a historic district called Vieux-Lyon which is classified as an UNESCO World Heritage Site and you have to walk the slopes of the Croix Rousse.
